In order for recyclables to be
collected, they must be properly prepared and acceptable items (see
preparation guidelines in this pamphlet) placed in the orange recycling
container provided by the City of Quincy. Other containers such as brown
paper sacks or cardboard boxes can be used for the overflow when the orange
container becomes full.
Recyclables and yard waste are
collected at the curb.
Collections begin at 6:00 am each day
and materials should be placed out for collection by that time to be sure
they are not missed. To allow for more efficient collections, please place
your recycling container at the curb only when it is full. Garbage,
recyclables, and yard waste are all collected once a week, all on the same
day. If a holiday should fall on your collection day, watch the media or
call the Recycling Office for your alternate day (217-228-4557) or you can
go to
www.quincyil.gov.
The following items will be
collected weekly by the recycling crews when prepared according to these
guidelines:
Yard waste must be bagged or in cans (loose) and placed at
the curb. Yard waste can be stored in reusable cans or in biodegradable
paper bags which are sold in your local stores. Your cans should be
marked with an “ X ” using either tape or a marker. Plastic bags will not be
accepted. All material will be required to weigh not more than 40 lbs. It
can also be transported to 711 W. Radio Road. If you need assistance call
(217-228-1432).
