History

The Adams County Green Coalition, formed in 2008, grew out of an initiative spearheaded by the League of Women Voters of Adams County to encourage citizens and city/county officials to be  environmentally proactive.  The organization is comprised of League members, the University of Illinois Extension Office, the City Planning Office and area citizens that want to assist Adams County, Illinois in becoming a more environmentally conscious county.  The organization is comprised of four different sub-groups that are working in the following areas to promote responsible green living.

4. Recycling Efforts

Our Mission

The mission of the Adams County Green Coalition is to provide leadership and contribute practical solutions to ensure a thriving community where people and nature flourish.  The Coalition will promote and encourage the use of environmentally responsible actions and strategies throughout Adams County.  We will further educate and support residents in taking action to practice more environmentally sustainable lifestyles and work with individuals, companies, schools, non-profit organizations, religious groups and government agencies to conserve natural resources.
